In the first two months, Wenzhou's foreign trade achieved a "good start" fastener export of 0.16 billion yuan, up 82.6 percent

On March 16, Wenzhou Customs released the city's foreign trade import and export data for the first two months of this year: the total value of imports and exports was 34.34 billion yuan, an increase of 36.4 percent over the same period last year (the same below). Among them, exports were 30.05 billion billion yuan, up 45.5 percent; imports were 4.29 billion billion yuan, down 5.4 percent from the same period last year; and the trade surplus was 25.76 billion billion yuan.

Since the beginning of this year, the city's imports and exports have returned to pre-epidemic levels, with stable growth. But the customs said, in fact, due to the serious impact of the epidemic in early 2020 led to a low foreign trade base in the same period, the January-February growth rate does not fully reflect the actual situation of foreign trade development. Compared with the city's total import and export value of 26.52 billion yuan, export 23.05 billion yuan and import 3.46 billion yuan in 2019 before the epidemic, the city's total import and export value increased by 29.5 percent in the first two months of this year, of which exports increased by 30.4 percent and imports increased by 23.8 percent, with the average annual growth of 13.8 percent, 14.2 percent and 11.4 percent respectively, and the growth stabilized.

Among them, mechanical and electrical products to drive export growth, but the city's traditional export products shoes, clothing, luggage exports declined. Data show that from January to February, the city exported 16.13 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 59%, accounting for 53.7 of the city's total export value in the same period. Among them, the export of fasteners was 0.16 billion yuan, an increase of 82.6; the export of electronic components was 0.18 billion yuan, an increase of 1.7 times; the export of household appliances was 0.59 billion yuan, an increase of 82.6. During the same period, the export of labor-related products increased by 24.9 to 10.36 billion yuan. Among them, textile yarn, fabric and products exports increased by 93%.

In terms of imports, the import of major industrial raw materials has dropped sharply, and the import of consumer goods such as tobacco and alcohol, daily chemical products, culture and entertainment has increased rapidly. From January to February, Wenzhou imported ferroalloy 1.38 billion yuan, down 37.8 percent, accounting for 32.2 percent of the total import value in the same period; imported steel 55.248 million yuan, down 85.3 percent; imported primary shape plastic 0.28 billion yuan, down 69.4 percent, accounting for 6.5 percent. During the same period, imported consumer goods 0.8 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8 times, accounting for 18.6.

From the perspective of the import and export market, exports to the member countries of the RCEP Agreement (I. e., the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) have grown rapidly, while exports to the United States have doubled. From January to February, our city exported 13.37 billion yuan to countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route, an increase of 45.0 percent, 4.9 billion yuan to ASEAN, an increase of 60.3 percent, 6.52 billion yuan to the European Union (excluding Britain), an increase of 28.8 percent, and 3.01 billion yuan to the Middle East, an increase of 30.6 percent. Our city exported 6.53 billion yuan to RCEP member countries, an increase of 63.3 percent, 13.2 percentage points higher than the export growth rate of the whole province. Exports to the United States were 4.15 billion yuan, up 99.0 percent. In addition, the city's imports from ASEAN and countries along the "Belt and Road" have dropped significantly, and imports from Australia have dropped by nearly 90%.
